Early in May we found cheap flights to Pisa. The only thing I knew about Pisa was the obvious, Leaning Tower of Pisa. After researching and reading that there wasn’t much in Pisa besides the tower and a few cathedrals, we decided to make a quick visit to the tower right when we landed and then head to our resort for a relaxing and calm weekend. After you see the pictures from the hotel, you will see why we chose the route we did. The weekend was so relaxing and much needed (especially for Nate).

I was actually kind of taken back with the tower. It wasn’t as tall as I had expected and or as ‘grand’ as I would have thought. Nonetheless, it was another check off our list and really neat to see it in person.

Now, to my favorite part of the entire trip. The hotel! We usually try to book a place to stay outside the bigger cities, 1. because they are typically cheaper away from the tourism and attractions and 2. because, look at the gems you find!

We booked at the NH Grand Hotel Palazzo in Livorno, Italy. Which actually happens to be a cruise port. So, if you ever take a European cruise, try to get to this little city in Italy. It was the absolute cutest and only a 25 minute train ride to the center of Pisa. We wanted to try and stay on the water since we have been land locked in Germany for the last year. This fed our craving! The front door of the hotel was 50 feet from the Mediterranean. How can you beat that?

Here’s the view from our room!

The roof top pool is what made this stay so special and worth every second!

Mojitos & the Mediterranean

My breakfast date with a nice view!

After breakfast we took a stroll along the water. Can you believe how clear the water is?

Ended our trip with the usual gelato stop.

Livorno…at the top of my favorites!
