Barcelona

Ahhh, Barcelona. What a beautiful, gorgeous, wonderful place! Can I go back already? There are many places I want to see again, but Barcelona has just made its way to the top of my list. Holy cow! The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and the beach…the beach was heaven!

Let’s start with this picture. We visited Barcelona in October and look how busy the beach was! People were still taking dips in the water and trying to get the last bit of vitamin D before the winter.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

We stayed in our first hostel in Barcelona! It was a really great experience! Its located outside the city center, but only a 15 minute walk, or a 5 minute tram ride to the center. Generator Hostel Barcelona was really fun! Just look at the bar/café area!

We only had one full day in Barcelona. My in-laws (Nate’s sister and her husband) we’re in town visiting and we added Barcelona to our itinerary while they were here! Per usual, we did Sandeman’s free walking tour, which was great and took us to the most important sites of the city!

After the walking tour, we stopped by the beach to grab a mojito and some sun!

Next we made our way to the top of Barcelona, Park Guell, where we got some perfect views of the city below us!

Later that evening we joined a tapas tour around the city, again, through Sandeman’s. They took us to three different tapas places and we learned how to drink from a parron. A traditional glass pitcher holding wine. The top of the vessel is narrow. Stemming upwards from the glass pitcher is a small spout that gradually tapers off to a very small opening. To drink, you start with the vessel very close to your mouth, tip it back and once the wine starts flowing into your mouth you gradually bring the vessel further and further back. The person you can pull the parron the farthest away and drink for the longest time without spilling a drop, wins! Let’s just say we had a good time!

The tapas were amazing, we got to try a few different ones!

Last stop in this great city, gelato formed into the shape of a rose! Until next time, Barcelona!
