Venice, Italy. It was a “must see” since we have been here. (I say that a lot, don’t I?! Give me a break, my bucket list was rather lengthy!) Well, we finally made it! Gorgeous in every way possible. Maybe because it was the first sunshine my body has seen in over 6 months or the fact there was salt water in the air and seagulls soaring above? For all of you who don’t know, I absolutely hate birds, so for me to enjoy seagulls, says a lot!
We stopped in Venice for one day before we left on our cruise. Like always, we did a free walking tour of the city, seeing all the major sites in just a few hours!
Our last stop on the walking tour was St. Mark’s Square or Piazza San Marco, as the Venetians would say! Full of people and life…and birds! Did you know, to sit and have a coffee in St. Marks Square can cost you a pretty penny?! If you stand and have a drink, its much cheaper but the second you sit down the prices raise substantially. A woman in our tour group went the day before with her daughter. They got two coffees and two desserts, a total bill of 51 Euro, equal to about $68! Needless to say, we walked a little father down for out cup of joe!
